Honey
Eternal God,
You have spoken in your Word, and your Word is truth. Give us ears
to hear now as we gather to listen to what you would say to us.
There are some here who need to be broken by your Word. Break them, I pray.
There are some who need to be humbled by your Word. Humble them, I pray.
There are others who need comfort and encouragement and knowledge and help. Bring it to our sin-sick souls, I pray.
Let your Word be sweeter than honey on our lips as we receive it, and may it impart grace to our souls.
I pray for the one delivering your Word this morning. May he speak with power and depth and clarity. Enable Him to preach your
truth as a dying man to dying people. Cover his sins with the atoning
blood of Christ and then magnify Christ through Him and through your
people.
I intercede for your congregation this morning. Thank you for taking
away their sin so that they may come boldly before Your presence. Wash
them in your Word so that they may have confidence before You. Hold up
the glory of Your Son to them. Bless them by Your grace. Send them
forth from this place with refreshed faith in your goodness and renewed
power to obey Your Great Commission and Your Great Commandment.
In the holy name of Christ I pray. Amen.
